Assessing Department
Clifford Turner, Assessor Tyrone Township

The assessor is statutorily required to perform and manage the assessment administration system of the township. These duties include valuing all real and personal property for the purposes of taxation, maintaining automated valuation systems, administration of the geographical information systems, and defense of challenged assessments. The assessor reports directly to the Township Supervisor and is appointed by the Township Board. Cliff Turner has more than 30 years experience in assessment administration and the appraisal of real estate. He is certified by the State Assessors Board as a CMAE 4, the State Tax Commission as a property auditor, and by the Board of Real Estate Appraisers as a Certified General Appraiser. He has obtained a Bachelors Degree in Business from Baker College of Muskegon and an Associates Degree in Science from Muskegon Community College.  Cliff is married with 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Cliff is an amateur musician, active in the Muskegon Model Railroading Club and enjoys collecting automobiles.

Office of the Clerk
Shelley Worley, Clerk

The Twp. Clerk is responsible for maintaining the township accounting system. She is responsible for all records, books, and papers of the township including minutes of the Twp. Board and preparing the Gen. & Fire Payroll, handling accounts payable for Gen. & Fire Funds. The Clerk also serves as secretary of the Twp. Board and oversees elections, voter registration and cemetery record keeping,  preparing the financial reports for Gen. & Fire Funds, along with preparing the annual budget, conducting budget workshops with input from the Twp. Board.
The current clerk has been designated the FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) Coordinator, by the township board. Documents are available for a small fee, but requests must be done in writing or in person and directed to Tyrone Twp. Office, Attn: FOIA Coordinator at 28 E. Shelley served as township office clerk for over four years. Shelley became township clerk in 1992 to present. Many changes have taken place through her service as township clerk where Shelley has made the transitions run smoothly! Shelley's husband, Ron, is currently assigned as a Local Pastor to Amble United Methodist Church . Their son, Chris, is married to Katrina and they have (3) children. Shelley loves being a grandmother. She enjoys camping with family & friends, scrapbooking & collecting fans.

Dave Ignasiak, Supervisor Tyrone Township

The supervisor is frequently the first official contacted by the community about township business or complaints. The supervisor is considered the township spokesperson. The image of the township and the ability to satisfy the needs of property owners and citizens rests on the supervisor’s knowledge of township government and how it can accomplish purposes legally, fairly and with the least amount of dissension and friction as possible.

Casey conducts inspections upon request. Please call the Tyrone Township office to schedule an inspection at 616-678-4779. When calling for inspections, please have the following information ready:

  •  Phone number where you can be reached and at what time
  •  Type of inspection needed
  • Access into home (where key is located, door open, etc.)

Wednesday: 8:00 – 10:00 am & 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Office of the Treasurer
Juli-Anne Hall, Treasurer Tyrone Township

The treasurer is required to receive all funds belonging to the township and to disburse them according to law or the township board’s decision. The township treasurer is also the township’s agent for the collection and disbursement of property taxes to specified units of government.

Juli Hall has served as treasurer since 1988, starting as deputy treasurer in 1987. “I have experienced many changes over the years. We started working in our homes, than finally moving into the back of the Township Library maintaining a few office hours. In 1999 the township purchased the old Valley Ridge Bank Bookkeeping building, at the time we didn’t feel we would be able to fill all the space, only to find it wasn’t hard to do. We now maintain office hours four days a week.” Juli has been married 36+ years, she has (1) daughter, (3) sons and (9) grandchildren. Juli enjoys walking, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.

Gayla Thomas, Office Administrator and Deputy Clerk

Gayla Thomas has been with Tyrone Township since 1993. Gayla makes the flow of Tyrone Township run smoothly. Gayla is our receptionist, deputy clerk and works closely with each department in the office. If any department personnel are not available when you call, Gayla can answer most questions pertaining to the building department, assessors, treasurers and clerks office.

Gayla has been married to Tom for 39+ years. She is an active member at Kent City Baptist Church. She has a son and a daughter and (4) grandchildren. Gayla enjoys playing with grandkids, walking, playing the piano and listening to music.
